When the COVID-19 pandemic began to take over the world in February 2020, the ability for the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) to get products to its stores, especially overseas, became an enormous challenge. For DeCA’s logistics director, Randall S. “Randy” Eller, it was never a question of if they could supply stores. Failure was not an option for the nearly 240 commissaries serving millions of service members and their families worldwide.

No one knows who invented the PB&J, but for U.S. service members that sandwich goes back to at least World War I when enterprising troops combined elements of their rations to create a culinary masterpiece.

The Defense Commissary Agency is initiating an internal recall of Tums Ultra Peppermint Antacid Tablets because some of the products may contain foreign contaminants, according to a recall notice from the Defense Commissary Agency’s food safety office sent Dec. 5.

A construction contract for upgrade of the commissary at Marine Corps Hawaii Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, was awarded Sept. 28 to Nelson Refrigeration Inc. The renovation of the commissary, built in 1993, will increase the store’s operational efficiency and enhance the customers’ overall shopping experience.
