2024 Scholarships for Military Children Program is now open:        14 Dec 2023 thru 14 Feb 2024

The Scholarship for Military Children Program has been created in recognition of the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community. A scholarship, funded through outside contributions, will be awarded annually at each commissary operated by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). The Fisher House Foundation continues to serve as the program administrator.  

The following program guidelines and application procedures are provided:

a. The Scholarships for Military Children program will open on December 14, 2023 and close February 14, 2024. Five hundred (500) scholarship grants, each for $2,000, will be awarded for the academic school year 2024-2025. There will be at least one recipient selected at every commissary location where qualified applications are received. Additional recipients are chosen on a prorated basis. Therefore, more applicants may be selected from those commissaries with more significant numbers of 
applicants.

b. Only students with a valid Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card may apply for a scholarship. An applicant's parent(s) must be one of the following: active duty, reserve/ guard, deceased, or retired from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Space Force. It is not the responsibility of store personnel to monitor eligibility. Scholarship Managers will 
screen the completed applications, not DeCA or Fisher House Foundation.

c. Applications will be submitted online only between December 14, 2023 and February 14, 2024 through the website www.militaryscholar.org

d. During the final certification process, Scholarship Managers will notify recipients of their selection. This notification will be prior to the Store Director’s notification, which will be on or about May 15, 2024. Results will be posted on the scholarship Website at
www.militaryscholar.org in early June 2024.

Information on how the service works is found on www.commissaries.com with dedicated sections such as “How CLICK2GO Works.” First-time customers will need to create an account.

Customers use a computer or mobile device to make their orders online where they select from commissary products offered based on the store’s stock assortment. After products are selected, the shopper selects a pickup time and pays for their order. At their appointed time they park in designated parking spaces where commissary workers bring their groceries.
