Wismettac Asian Foods issues allergy alert on undeclared milk in Curvee Puffs Corn Puff Snack

Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc., is expanding its Jan. 17 recall of 2.46 oz packages of Shirakiku brand Curvee Puffs Corn Puff Snack curry flavor. The expansion now includes two additional flavors; sea salt and umami flavor and corn potage flavor, because they may contain undeclared milk, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Jan. 29.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.      

The product was distributed nationwide in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin through retail stores, restaurants, online business. The product was also exported to Mexico and Peru.

The recalled product is packaged in a 2.46 oz flexible bag. The UPC for the product is located on the back right side of the product package. This issue affected all lot codes or date codes:
