Van’s Waffles recalled for undeclared allergens
Van’s Foods is voluntarily recalling some gluten-free waffle products due to undeclared allergens as a result of a manufacturing packaging error according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent April 29. The recalled product contains gluten and milk, allergens which are not declared on the label.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Chris Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products are affected by this recall:
-

- Van’s Belgian, 8 ounces: Item number 30201 and product lot number A640234710–WL2 with a “best by” date of Aug. 22
The products were distributed solely to food retailers in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.
No illnesses have been reported and no other Van’s products are affected by this recall. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
