Utz Carolina Style Barbeque Chips recalled
Utz Quality Foods, LLC is voluntarily recalling specific Utz brand Carolina Style Barbeque Potato Chips because they may contain an undeclared soy allergen, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent July 16. New packaging was created to reflect a seasoning reformulation containing no soy; however, the packaging was introduced into manufacturing before the reformulated seasoning was available.
Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products are affected by this recall:
-
Utz Carolina Style Barbeque Potato Chips, 2.875 ounces: UPC 0-41780-00153-5 with expiration dates from Oct. 6 to Oct. 20
-
Utz Carolina Style Barbeque Potato Chips, 7.5 ounces: UPC 0-41780-00049-1 with expiration dates from Aug. 18 to Oct. 27
There have been no reported illnesses to date. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
