Tostitos Avocado Salsa recalled
Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling a limited number of their jarred Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dip because they may contain milk, an undeclared allergen, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent June 16. The recall was initiated after discovering that the back of the affected jars was mislabeled with another product’s nutrition information and declarations, exposing consumers to the undeclared allergen.
Those with milk allergies or sensitivities run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Tostitos Avocado Salsa Dip, 15 ounces: UPC ending in 0559 with “best before” dates of Nov. 2 - 3
The “best before” date can be located on the upper rim of the jar. There have been no reports of adverse effects related to this recall and no other Tostitos products, flavors, sizes, or dip variety packs are affected.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions should contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 800-352-4477, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST.
