‘TIS THE SEASON: Commissaries announce holiday shopping schedule, encourage patrons to take advantage of earned savings
FORT GREGG-ADAMS, Va. – During the holidays, military commissaries will be open to serve eligible patrons except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) announced.
“As our patrons shop for their holiday meals, we want to remind them that their commissary benefit is there for them, offering at least 25 percent savings on their grocery needs, and that includes the items for their festive meals or their game-time snacks, prepared deli and produce platters, baked goods, candy and more,” said Robert J. Bunch, executive director of DeCA’s Store Operations Group.
“We encourage our military community members to check their stores’ schedules, plan their shopping trips on the installation for both commissaries and exchanges, and use their shopping benefit to save money over the holidays,” he added.
Commissaries will be open on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, however, operating schedules may vary. All commissaries will be closed on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). Patrons are reminded to check the “Store Information & Holiday Hours” box on their store’s webpage for specific operating schedules.
As they prepare to shop, commissary patrons are reminded they can “Settle into the Season” with holiday-related ideas to celebrate this festive time of year while saving money in the process. For example, they can download DeCA’s Interactive Holiday Guide or visit https://shop.commissaries.com/settle-into-the-season to view additional holiday item specials.
Patrons can also access the Savvy Shopper Sales Flyer for the latest sales and take advantage of the Commissary CLICK2GO online ordering/curbside pickup service for their convenient shopping needs.
