Sun Noodle recalls noodles due to mislabeling

Sun Noodle is voluntarily recalling one lot of its Tonkotsu ramen noodle product because the product was mislabeled and may contain an undeclared fish allergen, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Jan. 23.

The product has been labeled as Tonkotsu but it contains the flavor package for the Assari Shoyu product. The Assari Shoyu flavor contains sardines, a known fish allergen.

While there have been no illnesses reported, those with fish allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.

The following product is affected by this recall:

• Tonkotsu Ramen: UPC 0-85315 40003-5, Lot code 3117332

Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
