Red Bull recalls energy drinks due to product degradation
Red Bull North America is voluntarily recalling two batches of its Red Bull energy drink because they may have degraded, producing an off color and taste as well as elevated levels of some ingredients according to a letter from the company sent Nov. 6.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Red Bull energy drink – RB1718 8.4 fluid ounces: batches #1639377 and 1639378. The batch number can be found on the bottom of the can.
To date, the company has received one customer complaint associated with consumption of a can, describing feeling unwell. No other Red Bull products are affected by this recall.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
