Oscar Mayer ham recalled due to possible early spoilage

Kraft Heinz Company is voluntarily recalling select Oscar Mayer ham products due to the possibility of spoilage prior to the "best when used by" date, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Sept. 13. There is no food safety issue; however, the quality of the product may be affected.

The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this product withdrawal to all its stores, said Richard Stith, the lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.

The following is list of products that are affected by this recall:

• Oscar Mayer Cooked Ham Vacuum Packaged, 16 ounce: UPC 044700070598 with "best when used by" dates of Sept. 7 through Dec. 6, 2016
• Oscar Mayer Honey Ham Vacuum Packaged, 8 ounce: UPC 044700070574 with "best when used by" dates of Sept. 7 through Dec. 6, 2016
• Oscar Mayer Honey Ham Vacuum Packaged, 16 ounce: UPC 044700070604 with "best when used by" dates of Sept. 7 through Dec. 1, 2016

Customers who purchased any of these products at the commissary should bring them back for a full refund.
