Molly's Kitchen Soup Base recalled
Custom Culinary Inc. is voluntarily recalling beef and chicken soup base products due to mislabeling and undeclared allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent July 14. The recalled product labeled as a chicken soup base actually contains beef base. Additionally, both chicken and beef soup base products contain soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the label.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products are affected by this recall:
- Molly's Kitchen Soup Base Paste Beef Base Paste-No MSG Added, 6 lb: Lot codes of 72505 239497 and 72505 239498
- Molly's Kitchen Chicken Base Paste 301817 – No MSG Added, 1 lb: Lot codes of 72505 239497 and 72505 239498
The recalled products bear establishment number "EST. 2016" or "EST. P-1278" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
No illnesses have been reported. Customers should return this product to their commissary for a full refund.
