Lidia's Marinara Sauce recalled
Nonna Foods is voluntarily recalling certain jars of Lidia's Marinara Sauce due to undeclared milk allergens according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent March 10. The product, labeled Lidia's Marinara Sauce, actually contains a different product, Lidia's Vodka Sauce, which contains milk allergens that are not declared on the product label.
Those with milk allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Lidia's Marinara Sauce, 25 ounces: UPC 897712001018 with a "best by" date of June 13, 2019
The UPC code is located below the Nutrition Facts panel on the back of the product and the "best by" date is located on the neck of the jar.
No illnesses have been reported. Customers should return this product to the commissary where it was purchased for a full refund.
Consumers with questions on the recall may call 800-447-1718, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
