Johnsonville, LLC, recalls cheddar bratwurst product due to possible foreign matter contamination
Johnsonville, LLC, is recalling approximately 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst products, because they may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent April 7.
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, chief, public health division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The product subject to recall bears establishment number “Est. 1647” printed on the front of the label. These items were shipped to retail locations in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The cheddar bratwurst item, produced on Feb. 5, are in a sealed firm tray package containing five pieces of “Johnsonville Brats Cheddar Bratwurst.” The following product is subject to recall:
- Johnsonville Brats Cheddar Bratwurst, 19 ounces, Package Code B9FOD printed on the label.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
