Jars of Tostitos Dip and Salsa voluntarily withdrawn
Frito-Lay is doing a voluntary market withdrawal of specific Tostitos dip and salsa products due to a defect in the glass jar which may affect the vacuum seal and potentially lead to product spoilage, according to a notice from the Defense Commissary Agency’s food safety office sent Aug. 29.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this market withdrawal to all its stores, said Richard Stith, supervisory consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products are affected by this withdrawal:
- Tostitos Medium Salsa Con Queso, 23 ounces: UPC: 2840006740 with expiration dates of April 30, 2020 and May 1 – 2, 2020
- Tostitos Medium Queso Blanco Dip, 23 ounces: UPC: 2840066872 with expiration dates of April 23-24, 2020 and May 6-7, 2020
- Tostitos Medium Chunky Salsa, 24 ounces: UPC: 2840003282 with an expiration date of Aug. 16, 2020
No other Tostitos products, dips or sizes are affected.
Customers should return the product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
