Homestyle Meatballs recalled
Home Market Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling their frozen ready-to-eat beef and pork meatball products because they may contain undeclared milk and wheat allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent July 26. The recall was initiated after discovering that specific packages of “Homestyle Meatballs All Natural” may contain “Cranberry Stuffed Meatballs” potentially exposing customers to undeclared milk and wheat allergens.
Those with milk or wheat allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, supervisory consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Cooked Perfect Brand Homestyle Meatballs All Natural, 48 ounces: UPC 0 36669 06223 3 with a “Best If Used By” date of July 2, 2020 and establishment number “EST. 2727”.
The establishment number can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
