Hillshire Farms Smoked Sausage recalled
Hillshire Brands Company is voluntarily recalling over 15,500 pounds of its blended meat and poultry smoked sausage products because they may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Sept. 2.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, supervisory consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage made with Pork, Turkey, and Beef, 14 ounces: Use by date of Nov. 11 and lot codes “EST. 756A 20 19:00:00 through 21:59:59 and EST. 756A 21 19:00:00 through 21:59:59" (establishment number, line number, and time of production in hours: minutes: seconds)
There has been one report of oral injury related to this recall.
Customers should check their refrigerator and freezer for the product and return it to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
