Hiland Dairy Whole Chocolate Milk recalled
Hiland Dairy is voluntarily recalling the half-gallon size of their whole chocolate milk because the products may contain eggnog, which contains undeclared egg allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Dec. 6.
Those with egg allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
Hiland Dairy Whole Chocolate Milk, half gallon: UPC 0-7206000128-0 with a “Sell by” date of Dec. 13 and a Plant Code 29-162
There have been no illnesses or allergic reactions related to this recall reported. No other Hiland Dairy Chocolate Milk products including 2% reduced fat and skim are affected by the recall.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions may contact Hiland Dairy seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST at 402-740-2254.
