GoGo squeeZ® applesauce pouches recalled for possible adulteration
Materne North America Corp. is voluntarily recalling specific packages of GoGo squeeZ® applesauce products due to possible adulteration from food product residue, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent March 5. The voluntary recall was a result of food product residue found in two product pumps during a routine inspection by the Michigan State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD).
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all affected stores, said Christopher Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- GoGo squeeZ® applesauce pouches: "best before date" of Dec. 4, 2015 through March 4, 2017; a five digit production code beginning "US" followed by 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 or 08, on the back of the pouch or on the bottom of the box; and "Product of USA" displayed under the Nutrition Facts Panel on the box.
The recall does not include GoGo squeeZ® organic products or GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ®.
Subsequent product testing has not revealed evidence of adulteration and no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall to date.
Customers who purchased this product at the commissary can return it for a refund.
