Family Size Ritz Cheese Crackers recalled
Mondelēz Global LLC is voluntarily recalling one size of Ritz Cheese Cracker Sandwich product because the outer package indicates the product inside is the cheese variety, but the product contained within is the peanut butter variety, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent May 2. The outer carton does include the allergen warning “May contain peanuts” and the inner individually wrapped products are properly labeled as Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches with the appropriate allergen warning. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
