EnviroKidz cereal recalled
Nature’s Path Foods is voluntarily recalling specific EnviroKidz cereal because they may contain undeclared gluten allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Feb. 16. The recall was initiated after an error in production scheduling led to air contamination. Those with wheat or barley allergies, celiac disease or sensitivity to gluten and wheat run the risk of potential adverse health effects if they consume the products.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- EnviroKidz Choco Chimp, 10 ounces: UPC 0 5844987024 1 with “best before” date of Aug. 27
- EnviroKidz Gorilla Munch, 10 ounces: UPC 0 58449 86002 0 with “best before” date of Aug. 24 and UPC 0 58449 86002 0 with “best before” date of Sep. 21
- EnviroKidz Jungle Munch, 10 ounces: UPC 0 5844987028 9 with “best before” date of Aug. 1
No other gluten-free Nature’s Path or EnviroKidz products are impacted by this recall.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
