Del Monte Fiesta Corn recalled
Del Monte Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific cans of Fiesta Corn Seasoned with Red & Green Peppers due to under-processing, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Dec. 12. Deviations in the commercial sterilization process could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Col. Alisa Wilma, director of public health and safety for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by the recall:
- Fiesta Corn Seasoned with Red & Green Peppers, 15.25 ounce cans: UPC 24000 02770 with “best if used by” dates of Aug. 14-16, 2021; Sep. 3 – 6, 2021 and Sep. 22 – 23, 2021.
The “best if used by” dates are stamped on the bottom of the can. No other production codes or products are affected and there have been no reports of illness associated with the recall.
Customers should return these products to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
