Commissaries pull Kozy Shack Tapioca Pudding from shelves due to quality concerns

The Defense Commissary Agency is pulling a specific lot of Kozy Shack® Tapioca Pudding from store shelves because of quality concerns, according to a recall message sent by the agency’s food safety office on Aug. 21.

The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, supervisory consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.          

The following product is affected by this recall:

• Kozy Shack Tapioca Pudding, 4 ounce cups packaged six cups per pack: SKU 20200000073491, UPC 073491202000, lot code 33013425 with an “expiration date” of Sept. 25, 2019.

In a letter to retailers, Kozy Shack Enterprises, LLC announced a voluntary market withdrawal of this product “because the product does not meet our quality standards.”

Customers should return the product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
