Clorox recalls drain cleaner due to child safety concerns

The Clorox Company is voluntarily recalling specific Liquid Plumr products because the child resistant closures may not be working properly, according to a recall notice from the Defense Commissary Agency's food safety office sent July 15.

DeCA has publicized the updated information to all its stores, said Chris Wicker, a public health advisor for the Defense Commissary Agency headquarters at Fort Lee, Va. Whenever a commissary has a recalled product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.

The following products are affected by this recall:

• Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter Clog Remover (previously sold as Slow Flow Fighter), 17 ounce: UPC 44600-00214 produced on or before March 21, 2016
• Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear Clog Remover, 17 ounce: UPC 44600-30548 produced on or before March 21, 2016

There have been no reported injuries to date associated with these products. The problem has been resolved, and product produced on March 22, 2016 and after is not impacted by this recall. Consumers should keep the recalled cleaners out of reach of children.

Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
