Chef Boyardee Rice with Chicken and Vegetables recalled
Conagra Brands, Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific Chef Boyardee Rice with Chicken and Vegetables microwave bowls because they may contain undeclared milk and wheat allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent March 11. The recall was initiated after customer complaints revealed microwave bowls of beef ravioli were mislabeled as “rice with chicken and vegetables.” Those with milk or wheat allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Chef Boyardee Rice with Chicken & Vegetables, 7.5 ounces: Package code 210090151050045L with a “Best By” date of July 8, 2020
The “Best By” date and the package code can be found on the bottom of the bowl.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of illness. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
