Brach's Almond Supremes candy recalled for undeclared allergens
Ferrara Candy is voluntarily recalling certain Brach's Almond Supremes candy because some packages were inadvertently packed with Brach's Bridge Mix according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Sept. 21. The Bridge Mix contains peanuts and wheat allergens not declared on the Almond Supremes package.
DeCA has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Christopher Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, it is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Brach's Milk Chocolate Almond Supremes, 5 ounce: UPC 11300 39733, "best by" date of April 22, 2017.
No other Ferrara Candy products are affected and no illnesses have been reported.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Customers who purchased this product at the commissary should bring it back for a full refund.
Consumers with questions on the recall may contact Ferrara Candy Company at 800-323-1768, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT.
