Blue Bell Creameries recalls select lot of Butter Crunch Ice Cream
Blue Bell Creameries is voluntarily recalling one lot of its half-gallon Butter Crunch Ice Cream because they may be contaminated with extraneous plastic pieces inadvertently introduced during the production process, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Oct. 9.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, supervisory consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Blue Bell Butter Crunch Ice Cream, half gallon: Lot code 082621222
The lot code can be found on the top of the lid. There have been no confirmed reports of injury related to this recall.
Customers should return the product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
