Better Made Snack Foods recalls potato chips due to undeclared allergen
Better Made Snack Foods is recalling its Original Potato Chips because they may contain milk, an undeclared allergen, according to an internal recall notice by the Defense Commissary Agency. Customers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Original Potato Chips, 10 ounces: UPC – 041633063048, dated Aug. 10 2019, Lot 62090431442 thru Lot 62090431520, Lot 85100431442 thru Lot 85100431520
To date there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a package of 10-ounce Original Potato Chips did not contain Original Potato Chips but instead contained Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips which contain milk.
