FORT GREGG-ADAMS, Va. – Whether for candy, flowers or a romantic meal, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is a one-stop shop for patrons who want to save money while scoring points with the object of their affection.
“Stop by your commissary and pick up all you need for a memorable home-cooked Valentine’s Day dinner or dessert,” said Navy Command Master Chief Mario Rivers, DeCA senior enlisted advisor to the DeCA director. “Don’t forget the flowers and candy, too. Your commissary benefit gives you access to all of this at great prices, so your valentine and wallet will be happy.”
As commissary patrons research their “heart-felt” plans, there are more than a few options to consider to enhance their Valentine’s Day shopping experience:
- Sales flyer. Commissary customers can save even more time and money by accessing the current sales flyer on the DeCA website.
- “Thinking Outside the Box” dietitian-approved recipes are available on corp.commissaries.com under the Healthy Living tab for quick, easy and economical meal ideas. Shopping for “Thinking Outside the Box” recipe ingredients is easy when using Commissary CLICK2GO. Simply open your sales flyer on shop.commissaries.com, find the featured recipe and click each recipe ingredient to add to your cart. Fill your basket right from your online sales flyer.
- Check your store. From fresh flowers to candy to produce platters, patrons are also reminded to check your local commissary for Valentine’s Day-related displays of items with extra low pricing.
- YES. Customers can also further their commissary savings with the Your Everyday Savings (YES!) Program. YES! offers extra savings and value on products customers buy most. Look for the orange YES! label on store shelves.
- Mobile app. DeCA has also made shopping even easier with its Commissary CLICK2GO mobile app. With the app customers can access the online payment/curbside pickup service, digital coupons, the sales flyer, dietitian-approved recipes and more. The mobile app is free for download through the Google Play and IOS app stores.
- Matters of the heart. Valentine’s Day isn’t the only event that focuses on the heart. February is Heart Health month and your commissary’s Dietitian-Approved Thumb program helps you easily spot foods that limit added sugar, sodium and unhealthy fat while offering whole grains, healthy fats, fiber or lean protein. Scan the shelves for products tagged with the “Thumbs Up” logo to be sure you are selecting high-nutrition quality foods to incorporate into a heart-healthy diet, or if you’re online, use the Dietitian-Approved Thumb filter to find the nutritious foods you want.
- Commissary Store Brands. DeCA’s private label inventory of Commissary Store Brands provides patrons with even further savings. Save big with an assortment of items spanning the entire store, including Freedom’s Choice food, HomeBase non-food, TopCare health and beauty, Full Circle Market natural and organic food, Wide Awake ready-to-drink coffee products, Crav’n Flavor frozen appetizers and snacks, Tippy Toes baby products, Flock’s Finest wild bird food and Pure Harmony pet food.
- Dietitian-Approved Fueling Stations. The commissaries’ grab-n-go Dietitian-Approved Fueling Stations are a great alternative to the drive-thru or as a quick way to stock office and barracks fridges with ready, on-the-go snacks and meals. These stations are full of dietitian-approved snacks and meals that are nutritious and high-performance foods, conveniently located near the registers in select stores. View the Deli Fueling Station page for a list of dietitian-approved salads, sandwiches and wraps.
