FORT LEE, Va. – Commissary customers can save much for Halloween, whether it’s on candy for the legions of young, costumed visitors yelling “trick-or-treat,” for their party food and drink or by entering a costume contest for a chance to win a turkey.
“Our customers can save nearly $25 on every $100 they spend on groceries if they shop their commissary,” said Marine Sgt. Maj. Michael R. Saucedo, the Defense Commissary Agency’s senior enlisted advisor to the director. “When it comes to Halloween that means a lot of sweets at significant savings compared to stores outside the gate.
“Now if you have leftovers after the trick-or-treaters leave, please eat responsibly,” he said, smiling.
Commissaries worldwide are offering daily specials on Halloween candy and other food, snack and beverage items. Customers may check the DeCA website, www.commissaries.com and their local commissary for details on local savings.
They can also access deeper savings through the digital coupons available through Commissary Rewards Cards, as well as on trending core items through the Your Everyday Savings (YES!) program and DeCA’s private label products known as Commissary Store Brands.
In addition to store savings, DeCA is also offering customers the opportunity to win a 14-16-pound frozen turkey through the “Trick or Treat – Win a Turkey to Eat!” worldwide Halloween costume photo contest going on through Oct. 31. Contest rules are simple: Submit a photo of yourself, your family, or your pet in their Halloween costume. One winner chosen per store. For contest rules go to www.Commissaries.com/halloween-costume-contest.
“I guarantee you’ll find massive, creative displays in your store that highlight the big savings on Halloween-related treats,” Saucedo said. “And, if you don’t want to leave your car, take advantage of our internet-ordering/curbside pickup grocery service, Commissary CLICK2GO, now with an upgraded order entry experience.”
