Natural Way Almond Butter recalled
Natural Way of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is voluntarily recalling one size of their Original Almond Butter because they may contain peanuts, an undeclared allergen, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent May 8. The recall was initiated after a customer notified the company that a jar of almond butter actually contained peanut butter.
Those with allergies or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Natural Way Original Almond Butter, 16 ounces: UPC 850001775175 with a lot code of 505721on the bottom of the jar
No illnesses have been reported. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
