Prairie Farms Chocolate Milk recalled

Prairie Farms Dairy is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of their Prairie Farms Chocolate Milk because it may contain egg, an undeclared allergen, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Nov. 29. Due to a manufacturing malfunction, cross-contamination with an egg nog product may have introduced undeclared egg allergens into some of their chocolate milk products.

The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.                           

The following products are affected by this recall:

• Prairie Farms Dairy Premium Flavored Chocolate Milk, 1 gallon: UPC 72730-26110 with a “Best by Date” of Dec. 4 and “Plant Code”  17-284
• Prairie Farms Dairy 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk, 1 gallon: UPC 72730-26126 with a “Best by Date” of Dec. 4 and “Plant Code”  17-284

No products produced at other plants nor other Prairie Farms chocolate milk products are affected by this recall.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consumption of this product. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
