Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce recalled
Huy Fong Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific sizes of their Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce product because a lactic acid buildup may cause the bottles to bloat and continue to ferment, according to a recall notice from the Defense Commissary Agency’s food safety office sent Dec. 23.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Huy Fong Foods, Inc. Srirachi Hot Chili Sauce, 17 and 28 ounce bottles: Lot codes H9TMKA, H9TMNA, H9TMLA, H9TMJA and H9TMJB with a “best before” date of March, 2021.
The affected products do not pose a food safety issue; however, opening a bottle that appears bloated may splatter when opened. Customers are advised to avoid opening any bottles from the affected products.
Customers should return the product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
