Alter Eco Deep Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate recalled
Alter Eco Americas, Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific lots of its Deep Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate bar in New York state because they may contain an undeclared milk allergen exceeding New York state limits, according to a recall notice from the Defense Commissary Agency’s food safety office sent Jan. 24. Those with milk allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, lead consumer safety officer for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products bearing UPC 8 17670 01006 8 are affected by this recall:
- Alter Eco Deep Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate, 2.82 ounces: Lot number L18154 with a “best before” date of March 31, 2020
- Alter Eco Deep Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate, 2.82 ounces: Lot number 1271705 with a “best before” date of May 12, 2020
- Alter Eco Deep Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate, 2.82 ounces: Lot number 1274828 with a “best before” date of June 18, 2020
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
