Hormel recalls Spam and luncheon loaf products due to foreign matter
Hormel Food Corp. is voluntarily recalling some Spam Classic and luncheon loaf products that may be contaminated with foreign matter, specifically metal pieces, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent May 27.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this withdrawal to all its stores, said Chris Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products affected by the recall bear establishment number “EST. 199N” on the bottom of the can:

Spam Classic, 12 ounce can: Production codes F020881, F020882, F020883, F020884, F020885, F020886, F020887, F020888 and F020889 with a “best by” date of Feb. 2021

Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf, 12 ounce can: Production codes F02098 and F02108 with a “best by” date of Feb. 2021
There have been reports of minor oral injuries associated with the consumption of these products. Customers should check their pantries and return these products to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
