Emerald Glazed Walnuts recalled
Emerald Nuts is voluntarily recalling specific glazed walnut products due to the potential presence of peanuts, almonds, cashews and pecans, undeclared nut allergens, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent Feb. 22.
Those with nut allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Chris Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Emerald Glazed Walnuts: UPC code: 0 1030080894 7 with package production code EN1216XX2 and a “best before” date of Dec. 15, 2018
The production code is located next to the nutrition facts panel on the back of the package.
No other production codes, sizes or varieties of Emerald products are affected. Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions regarding the recall may call Emerald Nuts Consumer Affairs at (800) 438-1880, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST.
