GoGo squeeZ® applesauce pouch recall expanded

Materne North America Corp. has added more production codes to an earlier recall on its GoGo squeeZ® applesauce product due to possible adulteration from food product residue. The original recall was announced by the company March 5.

DeCA has publicized the updated information to all its stores, said Chris Wicker, a public health advisor for the Defense Commissary Agency headquarters at Fort Lee, Va. Whenever a commissary has a recalled product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.

As a result of the expanded recall, commissaries have added production codes (additional items in bold) to the products that have already been pulled from store shelves.

The recall does not include GoGo squeeZ® organic products or GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ®.

Subsequent product testing has not revealed evidence of adulteration and no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall to date.

Customers who purchased this product at the commissary can return it for a refund.

• GoGo squeeZ® applesauce boxes: "best before date" of Dec. 4, 2015 through March 4, 2017; a six digit production code beginning "US" followed by 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 or 08, on the back of the pouch or on the bottom of the box; and "Product of USA" displayed under the Nutrition Facts Panel on the box.
