Tri-Union Seafoods recalls tuna products due to possible health concern
Tri-Union Seafoods LLC is voluntarily recalling 107,280 cans of its tuna products because the product may be undercooked, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent March 18.
It was discovered during a routine inspection that a piece of equipment had malfunctioned causing the product to be undercooked. Due to the status of the product, there is a possibility that if consumed spoilage organisms or pathogens could cause serious life-threating illnesses.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all affected stores, said Christopher Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
