Polly-O String Cheese recalled over choking hazard concerns
Pollio Italtian Cheese Company is voluntarily recalling certain Polly-O String Cheese products because a thin layer of plastic film from the package may remain adhered to the product potentially causing a choking hazard, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent July 25.
The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Christopher Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.
The following products are affected by this recall:
- Polly-O 2‰ String Cheese, 10 ounce: UPC 0 71040 00060 2 with "best by" date codes of 05 OCT 2016 PD 4 and 05 OCT 2016 PD5
- Polly-O Low Moisture Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese String Cheese, 24 ounce: UPC 0 71040 06556 4 with "best by" date codes of 06 OCT 2016 PD 1, 06 OCT 2016 PD3, 06 OCT 2016 pd4 and 06 OCT 2016 PD5
- Polly-O Low Moisture Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese String Cheese, 12 ounce: UPC 0 71040 06504 5 with "best by" date code of 08 OCT 2016 PD 3
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injuries due to consumption of these products.
Customers who purchased this product at the commissary can return it for a refund.
