Ronzoni Thin Spaghetti recalled for undeclared allergen

Riviana Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling specific Ronzoni Thin Spaghetti cartons because they may contain an egg fettuccine product. The affected cartons do not declare the allergen "egg," which is an ingredient in the egg fettuccine product according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent March 20.

The Defense Commissary Agency has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Christopher Wicker, a public health advisor for DeCA headquarters at Fort Lee, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has a recalled or withdrawn product in its inventory, the product is immediately removed from store shelves.

The following product is affected by this recall:

• Ronzoni Thin Spaghetti, 16 ounce: UPC 71300 000097, Manufacturing Code of JAN 20 19 K

The UPC and the manufacturing code can be found on the left end of the package. No other Ronzoni varieties or manufacturing codes are affected by this recall.

To date, no illnesses have been reported related to the product covered by this recall.

Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs are at risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Customers who purchased these products at the commissary should return them for a full refund.
